Bobby J. Wilson and his girlfriend Brandi N. Warren led police on a dangerous pursuit after fleeing from a McDonald's in Chambersburg on Saturday, March 9, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
Trooper Benjamen Maudie attempted a traffic stop on the black Toyota Corolla with Alabama plates after Wilson sped out of the McDonald’s parking lot without stopping. Instead of pulling over, Wilson conducted a U-turn, accelerated onto Route 30, and fled onto I-81 south, police said.
The chase reached speeds of 110 mph, with Wilson repeatedly slamming on his brakes and accelerating again, according to authorities. At one point, he allegedly intentionally rammed a PSP patrol unit on the driver’s side before continuing southbound.
Near mile marker 11.7, Wilson reportedly braked hard and turned sharply, striking the patrol unit’s passenger side. The impact sent the trooper’s vehicle off the roadway, down an embankment, and into a rollover crash, trapping Trooper Maudie inside, police said. The damage was so severe that he had to be extricated through the windshield.
Wilson crashed shortly after and, along with Warren, fled on foot into a nearby house, where they hid in the attic, police said. Troopers tracked them down and took them into custody.
Wilson is facing multiple felony charges, including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, fleeing and eluding, and reckless endangerment, according to court records.
Warren’s charges have not been publicly detailed.
